M.S.Ed. in Language Education, with ENL Specialization

“Be on Target” to support multilingual and multicultural students with the School of Education’s new fully online program, M.S.Ed. in Language Education. This 36-credit master’s degree is designed for educators who want to earn their ENL license addition as a 15-credit specialization and then stack on 21 credits to earn a master’s degree.

Whether you are pursuing your ENL license addition or already have it, this fully online master’s program prepares professionals with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to teach, lead, and advocate for multilingual and multicultural students and their families. The focus of the “Be on Target” M.S.Ed. in Language Education with ENL specialization coursework is on leveraging evidence-based practices to teach, assess, develop curriculum, and engage with families and communities in positive ways.

“Be on Target” Program outcomes:

  • Demonstrates self-efficacy for teaching diverse learners and by improving their learning outcomes.
  • Designs instruction that attends to the whole person’s potential by articulating multiple and consequential learning goals and measurable outcomes that creative positive interdependence in an including learning community.
  • Designs coherent assessment and instructional plans where varied methods of assessment are used to differentiate instruction for both formative and summative purposes.
  • Implements a standards-based and cognitively challenging curriculum, purposefully making connections between students’ knowledge from home, school or community to new concepts while differentiating learning activities based on students’ assessed strengths or needs.
  • Designs and implements learning activities, with clear goals, joint products, and feedback assistance, and uses open-ended questions to elicit student knowledge and reflections.

This 36-credit fully online master’s program can be completed at your own pace. Depending on your starting point for learning, you can complete the program in one to two years. You may be able to transfer up to 9 credits for coursework done at another university.
