Self-Reflection
Student Teachers will use the Clinical Observation Form to set goals and action steps prior to student teaching.
Students will reflect on these goals after each observation and at the Mid-Term conference. Student teachers will complete and use the Professional Growth and Goals form throughout the semester to reflect.
4 in-person evaluations will be completed by your Coach (University Supervisor) using the clinical observation form.
48 hours prior to the observations students will turn in UDL lesson plans to their Coach (University Supervisor) for feedback.
A debrief of the observation will take place immediately after the lesson is taught or over zoom within 24-48 hours of the observation.
Written feedback will be given using the observation form within 48 hours.
Observations will last at least 30 minutes and two observations will be observed during Literacy. Feedback will highlight strengths, things to consider, action steps and how the lesson impacted student learning.
Mentor teachers will complete 2 observations using the clinical observation form. (One observation in the first 8 weeks and second observation within the second 8 week block).
Students will record 3 additional lessons using Go React and write 10 thoughtful comments about the lesson. This is due within a week of the video observation due date.
**Mentor teachers may review observational feedback from the Coach.
Mid-term Assessment
A conference will be held with the Student Teacher, Mentor Teacher, Coach (University Supervisor) to discuss how student teaching is going, look over goals and action steps and create plan for next steps.
**If a Student Teacher is in any danger of not successfully completing the student teaching experience, the Coach (University Coach) and the Director of Clinical Experiences must be notified immediately so that interventions and an improvement plan can be put in place.
The Mentor Teacher will complete the Final Assessment Form and share it with the Student Teacher. Once the form is completed, it will send copies to the ST, MT and Coach.
Student Teachers will complete a Benchmark project, reflecting on how assessment drives instruction. This project will be scored using a rubric by the Coach (University Supervisor).
**Secondary Students will have an additional content specific assessment to be completed by the Mentor Teacher and shared with the Student Teacher.
** We expect Student Teachers to have almost all boxes checked in Column 3 of the Final Assessment to successfully complete student teaching.
