The IU School of Education in Indianapolis is committed to faculty governance, and the Policy Council is an elected governing body for faculty on the Indianapolis campus.
There is a long history of faculty control over academic policies within the school. The policies and procedures you will find on this site are the result of the hard work of current and previous faculty members. You can also read the Constitution of the Faculty, last updated March 2021, to learn more about how it works.
Faculty members and alternates serve three-year terms. Policy Council meetings include one staff and one student representative; staff representatives serve for two years, and student representative serve a one-year term.
