Dr. Sara Bangert is a clinical assistant professor in the Urban Teacher Education department at Indiana University Indianapolis and serves as program coordinator for the Early Childhood Education program.

Dr. Ted Hall is the assistant dean for student support and diversity and a clinical associate professor in the departments of Urban Teacher Education and Africana Studies at Indiana University Indianapolis. He received his Ph.D. at the Michigan State University in Learning, Technology and Culture and has taught at several universities in the United States and Asia, including Martin University, Indiana University Bloomington, The Ohio State University, and Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. His primary research interests include the interface between culture, cognition, and epistemic knowledge.

Dr. Jackson has been a professional educator for over 27 years. Prior to joining the academy, she was an elementary teacher and taught first, second, and third grades. As a teacher educator, she drew upon her own classroom teaching experiences focusing on the complexities of teaching diverse learners and attending to social justice issues pertaining to the marginalization of children in U.S. schools.

Dr. Magee has a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the City University of New York. After a postdoctoral position at Eli Lilly & Co, Dr. Magee earned her Indiana teaching license at IU Indianapolis. She is currently a Clinical Professor in Science Education.

Brendan Maxcy is an Associate Professor of Urban Education Leadership and Policy. From 2017 to 2022, he served as Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Development and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. He studies leader responses to education reform policies with particular attention to equity effects, leadership distribution, and political dynamics. He served as co-principal investigator for two federally-funded projects, the Great Lakes Equity Center (2011-16) and the Community Self-Empowerment Program (2013-2016). His work is published in Educational Administration Quarterly, Educational Management, Administration & Leadership, Educational Policy, The Peabody Journal of Education, Remedial and Special Education, and Urban Education. He has presented his work in the U.S., Canada, Russia, Scotland, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Dr. Morton is an Associate Professor of Math Education. Her scholarly work focuses on secondary math education with an emphasis on the role of informal STEM learning in fostering equitable and transformative learning experiences for Black girls.

Dr. Murtadha is a mother and grandmother. Her PhD is in Educational Leadership from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She has taught in many settings including a preschool, an elementary school, middle school science, undergraduate and graduate classes. She currently teaches in the School of Education’s Urban Leadership program. Murtadha is the editor of Indiana University’s first journal dedicated to community engaged and community based participatory research. Her commitment to issues of art and culture led to the development of IU’s Africana Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.I.). Her research is attentive to African American women committed to social justice educational leadership; and the ethics of community-university engagement.
