Ryan Sprague

Bio

Ryan Sprague is a local School Counselor at a private high school in Indianapolis. Ryan has been a School Counselor for 6 years and is involved in many activities in his school.  He has implemented and designed a school-wide program for students called De-Stress Fest where students have the opportunity to take a break from school work and relax before final exams. Ryan’s favorite things about being a School Counselor is advocating for his students, getting to know their interests, and supporting their goals.

Ryan pursued his undergraduate degree beginning at Indiana University Indianapolis before graduating from Northern Kentucky University.  Ryan enrolled in IUPUI’s Counseling and Counselor Education Master Program and graduated from the program in 2019. During his time in the program he enjoyed his classes and gained a lot of perspective from knowledgeable professionals.  Ryan recognizes the hard work and dedication Indiana University Indianapolis professors provided to their students and their thorough preparation for students’ success.

Ryan is an active member of the American School Counselor Association and Indiana School Counselor Association. Ryan credits his parents and family for his strong interest in Education and the teaching profession.  His grandfather was a lifelong teacher and School Board member who was actively involved in empowering students. Ryan now lives in a suburb of Indianapolis with his partner.  Ryan and his partner enjoy all things local, like exploring new restaurants, enjoying summer concerts, and hiking new trails.

Ryan hopes that joining the School Counseling Program Advisory Board will help encourage more people to join the world of Education and help students feel supported. Ryan is excited to bring his expertise to the panel and is excited about the opportunity!
