Indianapolis, IN - The IU School of Education at IUPUI is excited to announce that it will be hosting the Indianapolis Regional Spelling Bee on March 19th, 2023.
Twenty-five talented spellers representing 19 schools throughout Hamilton and Marion counties will compete in this prestigious spelling competition. The winner of the Regional Bee will go on to represent the state of Indiana in the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland.
The Regional Spelling Bee is open to students in grades 3 through 8 who have excelled in their school and district spelling bee competitions. These students have worked tirelessly to perfect their spelling skills and will put their knowledge to the test in front of friends, family, and the surrounding community.
IUPUI Served as the host campus for the Bee in 2022 and is proud to do so again for the 2023 competition. "This is a very exciting time of year" said Tim Williams, Scripps Bee Regional coordinator, and Interim Assistant Dean of the IU School of Education at IUPUI. "Many of these spellers have studied vigorously to make it to this stage in the competition. As regional finalists, these students have excelled at their respective school and district level bees for a chance to compete on a national stage."
